I doubt my pressure has changed much. I could only follow the diet the doc gave me for a few weeks and then the cravings took over. I'll know next week for sure.
Does anyone here take BP meds with antidepressants?

I have been taking bp medicine sense I was 18. When I was 28-29 I took Lexapro with it and had no problems. Same doc prescribed both so I dont think it will hurt anything.

the easiest and quickest way to find out is your pharmacist. they deal with drugs all day and have access to the best programs that will help find any contraindications for drugs. they are easily accessable via phone or walk in!!

just be aware when people who are not docs or pharmicists are giving u feedback since there are thousands of meds and they fall into different groups and can have different drug-drug interactions....i.e. xanax and prozac and lexapro and paxil and clonopin and etc. etc.

Thanks. Presently on xanax and welbutrin (budeprion). Welbutrin daily; xanax as needed.
Thinking af switching to a new anti depressant---Cymbalta. Just been reading some good things about it. I think welbutrin has done all in can do.

Sorry to read Warroom has been on bp meds for so long. Had no idea people went on them that young. I'll find out on Monday.

If you don't mind me asking what is the cause of the Depression? How much counseling do you do to supplement the drugs you are taking?

kingbill--I don't mean to be rude to you or anyone; but I don't want to do a long winded write up on the net for all of my ametuer doctor "friends" to analyze. It's not a simple or single cause in my case, but it started as anxiety/ panic and has developed into depression. It's not gambling related as much as life in itself and getting older dealing with health problems. To put it in over simplistic terms it's a which came first chicken or the egg problem.

I understand fully, my main concern when ever I hear of people taking anti-depressants is that they are getting additional treatments like counseling or visiting a psychologist. Not so much to find out whether it was the chicken or the egg that came first but to give you some tools to take control of your own mental state that you can stop taking the pills which help in the short term but can become a crutch over the long term.

true true kingbill. i was on zoloft a few yrs back for about 3 yrs. when i was given the script, i was never asked if i wanted a good therapist name or anything of the such. i bet that happens in a very large percentage of cases...give em a pill, shut em up, NEXT PATIENT PLEASE.

Started taking Lexapro myself about 6 months ago. 20 mgs a day. I think it helps at least with me. I never suffered from anxiety myself. It was more a case of being withdrawn, aloof, dark moods of self hatred. I'll never be confused with being gregarious but I am more talkative, don't dwell on stuff as much. No real side effects. Actually helps me sleep better though I never really had a problem there before. Feel mentally sharper too. (Except gambling wise, lol.)
